KryStyle's random (and not so random) facts

So, I finally got a chance to sit down and add my randomness to Paul's. See our previous post to see our randomness in all it's glory......Love, KryStyle

P.S. We forgot to thank our friends for contributing some of the images that are in our new slideshow of Paul & I (located on the right, if you haven't seen how cute we are yet!) Thanks to our fotographer friends Steve Depino, Carla Ten Eyck, Pam Moan, and Amy Ross Jacob, our kick-ass-istant Jennifer Smith Cupcakes, along with many family and friends for giving us fotographers some beautiful, memory-filled images of ourselves!

Coming Soon......KryStyle Designs!

After many requests from our fellow fotographers, we are officially launching the beta version of our new book design company to a select few. These lucky fotogs will be helping us main stream a brand new workflow, allow us to test our FTP client for image upload and give us feedback on timetables and other important book designing things. So start spreading the excitement! At long last.......introducing......

So Who is StudioFoto

StudioFoto has been in business for approximately 7 years and we feel we haven't let the public know just who we are. To answer all those questions we are finally posting our 8 little known facts about ourselves, after being tagged by Carla Ten Eyck from the one and only Carla Ten Eyck Photography and Justin and Mary from Justin Marantz photography.

THE RULES:
1. Post these rules before you give the facts.
2. List eight (8) random facts about yourself.
3. At the end of your post, choose (tag) someone and list their name (linking to their page.)
4. Leave them a comment on their blog letting them know they've been tagged!

Facts:

Krystal's:

1. I'm the eldest of 6 children (and my folks are still together after all that stress!!) My baby sister Addi is now 17, but I was her "mini-mom," helping change her diapers : ) I also helped my parents as much as possible to take of our house. Lots of laundry!!!
2. I was homeschooled up until the 11th grade. This explains why I'm a little shy around new peeps....but once I get to know you a little- look out : ) And yes, my mom is SuperWoman.....she homeschooled all of us!! I knew for sure that I wanted to pursue fotography when I took my high school fotography classes after enrolling in public school.
3. I was the first in my family (including parents & grandparents) to attend and graduate college. I have my BFA in photography from UConn.
4. For as long as I can remember, I thought I wanted to be a writer when I grew up. I was absessed with keeping a journal of my life's journey. I didn't want to forget anything that ever happened to me....I know, a little ridicolous. But, check it out- I'm now a fotographer (also obsessed with creatively recording everything in my life...and my clients!) I've decided that I'm going to have to start contributing more on our blog...hopefully I won't bore you all with the details!
5. I received my first camera, a Polaride, when I was 10 or 11, and have been obsessed with fotography ever since! I use to borrow my mom's "real" camera, a 35mm manual slr Fuiji and gather up my 2 sisters and 3 brothers for impromptu foto shoots!!! Complete with props...they never forgave me. But I am still photographing their growing families, so I guess it wasn't that bad : ) In fact, my brother Joe and fiancee Becky just had a new baby girl that I will be photographing soon. Yay! More to come on that soon.
6. My dad, Donald, comes from a big family too, 4 boys and 1 girl and the whole family's first names start with a "D." No kidding.....Donald, Doris, Donald II, David, Dane, Darryl (his other brother Darryl....just kidding!), and little Dawn who was only 6 when my parents got married.
7. My parents have been together since my mom was 15 and my dad was 18. They started dating in the official "Summer of Love".... '69 dude!! My dad went to Woodstock that year, but my mom couldn't go because she was too young!!! Way to rock the cradle Dad! I love you guys, and wish we could spend more time together.....
8. I've always wanted to be an entrepreneur in a creative field... so I guess you can say I'm one of the lucky few living their dream!!!! Sweet!

Sorry my randomness was so long... I love to write! And now for the love of my life's random facts.....

"The Awesome"... Engagement session

The Awesome...Couple, day, photos. Yesterday was spent in a little town in CT called Noanck. We met up with Walt and Ann for a day filled with "Awesome" Photography aboard there 39.5' sloop. We sailed to a island called "Flat Hammock" anchored and dove in to swim to the beach of the island. Krystal and though ahead and brought our point and shoot and its underwater housing. This is the first shoot we have done with a point and shoot... well half of it anyway. The sun was shining high in the sky there was ne'er a cloud in site and the smiles were as natural as the wind. We had an amazing time with Walt and Ann, we cannot wait for their wedding.

Here are a few teasers.

Senior Marketing Campaign

Krystal and I have put together this rocking Senior Fotography campaign. We just launched it to target seniors that don't want just yearbook fotography. This fotography captures the essence of a student as they are about to venture out in to the world. We are launching this by hanging posters advertising an open house on August 19th just for seniors. We will have Fotos and Grad Books on display along with a door prize drawing. The open house is also a 1 day sale of 50% off your session.

Photography Permits in NYC

So we have probably all heard of the photography permits and 1million liability needed to shoot in NYC. Well after some very careful reading as a "photo journalistic" style still photographer we have nothing to worry about.

The following activities require a permit.

Section 9-01, subdivision b, clause 1. paragraph 3

(ii) Filming, photography, production, television or radio remotes occurring
on City property, as described in subdivision (a) of this section, involving an interaction among two or more people at a single site for thirty or more minutes, including all set-up and breakdown time in connection with such activities;

The following activities do not require a permit.

Section 9-01, subdivision b, clause 2. paragraph 1

Filming or photography occurring on City property, as described in subdivision (a) of this section, involving the use of a hand-held device as defined in paragraph three of subdivision (a) of § 9-02, provided that such activity does not involve an interaction among two or more people at a single site for thirty or more minutes including all set-up and breakdown time in connection with such activities.

Definitions:

(i) a “single site” shall be any area within 100 feet of where an activity commences, and...

(3) “Hand-held devices” shall mean film, still or television cameras, video cameras or other equipment which are held in the photographer or filmmaker’s hand and carried at all times with the photographer or filmmaker during the course of filming. Hand-held devices shall not include tripods, cables or any other item or equipment not carried by the photographer or filmmaker at all times during the course of photography, filming or transmission.

Interpretation:
Unless you as a photographer plan to use one spot for 30min then go to NYC and shoot.

Disclaimer: This is my interpretation please read Title 43 by clicking on the link below to come to your conclusion.
